Week 7 |
.
It's gotten to the point where most of the stuff that's left is fun stuff. Fun because the kitchen is functional and not filled with dust anymore and i'm not running around in near hysterics thinking that it's never going to be clean again. Now when i do stuff it's improving the aesthetic, not destroying it, which was the case the first couple weeks. Amy's sister is up from D.C. and her mom's out from Montana so she missed the Ikea shopping spree and a lot of electric drill fun. She'll be sad. The schedule for week seven was a little random -- installing new cabinet hardware, the pot rack, shelves, sealing the bricks, and bringing the fridge back from the living room (FINALLY). |

Sunday I had to go into work for graduation and when I got home I was looking forward to relaxing (read: being lazy). But when I got home, there was a message from Meagan waiting for me. So she came over. After I shop-vacced the wall for an hour to try and get up all the dust, we put down a tarp and applied the brick sealer that Jon Stromer-Galley had given me (left over from his own brick wall odyssey). The brick sealer was a MESS, if you can imagine a substance thinner and runnier than water but the color of milk, that's what this stuff is. Even being careful it went everywhere. It was tarp and paper towel madness. But the final result was well worth the effort and mess. The sealer gives a slightly "wet" look to the bricks and, hopefully, will reduce the amount of flaking that goes on. |

After we were done, Liz showed up looking for something to do. She brought flowers. |
Milla's job is to sit around and look beautiful. She actually ate the flowers. |
Meagan took a picture of me ... I'm so devilishly handsome. |
