Milla got me in the summer of
2002 when the people she lived with moved to California. Rapidly, she
established herself as the Dainty Queen of the House and my job to that of a
slavishly adoring servant, performing little tasks like turning on the
kitchen faucet so she could drink, and grooming her to her satisfaction and
leaving folded black clothes in places that she wanted to sleep. Milla's job is to sit around and look beautiful. She knows this and she lets everybody else know it too. So, when I'm shooting fashion in my home studio, Milla rightly realizes that she is the one who ought to be photographed. In the year and a half she's been with me, she rarely fails to find her way onto the set while I'm shooting. I'm very impressed with her sense of aesthetics and composition, she often seems to know where to stand to improve an otherwise bland photograph. Like any other ... this represents a work of collaboration between model and photographer. It only stands to reason that with such a body of work, she should get her own show. |
